Donhead Hollow
I took an early morning trip out to Donhead Hollow, just outside Shaftesbury, the other day. Stopping at the lay-by on the B3081 not far from Compton Abbas airfield, I was rewarded with a fantastic view of the Hollow just before sunrise.
Cyprus Wreck
We recently returned from a family trip to Cyprus – great food and beautiful scenery. One of the most striking views for me was that of the wreck of the Edro III, a ship that foundered in heavy seas en route to Rhodes from Limassol in December 2011. The crew were rescued by helicopter but the vessel ran aground just along the coast from Paphos.
Always on my Mind
Earlier this week I was able to cover the first half of ’The Elvis Years’ at the Lighthouse in Poole. Featuring Mario Kombou (“the best Elvis since Elvis” according to Donna Presley, Elvis’ cousin), it was a roll call of The King’s most well known songs and featured numerous costume changes against a backdrop of footage of his life.
On Chesil Beach
It was a low, brooding sky when I visited Langton Herring in Dorset but, using a long-ish exposure, I managed to take some atmospheric images of some abandoned boats on the foreshore looking back towards Chesil Beach.
The Talented Mr Rapley
Coast Photography was allowed out after dark on December 13th and rolled up at the Sound Cellar, a regular jazz night at The Blue Boar in Poole. It took some shots of the featured act, Sam Rapley and his band, Fabled and was impressed enough to buy a copy of their latest CD, Short Stories
